Karachi Police Arrest Man Accused of Attacking Motorcyclist in DHA
Karachi police have arrested a man accused of assaulting a motorcyclist in the DHA Phase 6 area of Khayaban-e-Ittehad. Earlier, his security guard and driver were also taken into custody, and the vehicle used in the incident was seized.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of South Karachi confirmed that the main suspect is not a government official. He was arrested after police raided his home and office. His identity has been verified, and a case (FIR) has been filed against him and his associates.
Although the victim did not file a formal complaint, the police registered the case based on an eyewitness account. The charges include criminal intimidation, assault, illegal confinement, and obscenity under Pakistan’s Penal Code.
According to the eyewitness, the incident happened on May 31 after a minor collision between a motorbike and a Land Cruiser. The suspect, identified as Salman Farooqi, allegedly ordered his guard and driver to drag the biker into the car, beat him, and abuse him verbally—even though the motorcyclist kept apologizing.
The victim’s sister tried to intervene and begged for mercy but was pushed away. A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the suspect slapping the motorcyclist without any clear reason.
Local media reports say the suspect is the CEO of an advertising company.
