Pakistan and Iran have decided to keep their border open all day and night during Muharram and Arbaeen to help pilgrims travel easily. The agreement was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. They also talked about improving cooperation between the two countries.
Iran promised to provide food and shelter for 5,000 Pakistani pilgrims in Mashhad and help them travel to Iraq. Both countries also discussed plans to start sea travel and add more flights for pilgrims.
A special hotline will be set up to solve any problems faced by pilgrims. Before Arbaeen, Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq will hold a meeting in Mashhad to discuss further arrangements.
Both sides also agreed to work together on border security, stopping smuggling, and releasing detained Iranian fishermen.
