On the Ground: Desperation Turns Deadly

Samir Abu Jarbou, 28, described being ambushed while seeking food:

“Suddenly the army opened fire, and drones started shooting. We ran away and got nothing. My only wish is to get a bag of flour.”

Civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal said most deaths occurred in central and northern Gaza, which remains heavily targeted despite ongoing aid efforts.

Ceasefire Talks: A Glimmer of Hope

  • Qatar, a key mediator, says ceasefire talks could restart soon.
  • Netanyahu claimed victory over Iran has “created opportunities,” including a potential path to free remaining hostages.
  • UN and international aid groups urge immediate halt to strikes amid worsening humanitarian conditions.

Fresh Evacuation Orders

The Israeli military ordered residents in Gaza City and nearby areas to evacuate to Al-Mawasi, a designated “safe zone” that has been repeatedly bombed.

“For your safety, immediately evacuate further westward and southward toward Al-Mawasi,” said military spokesman Avichay Adraee.

Civilians Bear the Brunt

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 56,531 people have been killed since the war began in October 2023, most of them civilians.
The UN deems these figures reliable, but journalists have limited access to independently verify the full toll.
